KeyBank Foundation Grants $175,000 to MAP for Housing Services

08/10/2023

Michigan Ability Partners (MAP) has received a grant of $175,000 from the KeyBank Foundation. The grant will help MAP provide Permanent Supportive Housing services to the chronically homeless people who have low income and a disability. MAP owns and operates seven properties and is working to create more affordable housing.

Through this program, MAP offers rent subsidies and long-term case management services to the participants. The grant will enable MAP to house 15 more participants in the first year, reducing the homelessness rate, and to support 30 participants every year to keep their housing and avoid eviction. The program has a success rate of 97% in keeping the participants stably housed.

“I am so grateful for the partnership with the KeyBank Foundation and their investment in helping MAP assist our most vulnerable community members in obtaining and maintaining affordable housing,” said Jan Little, CEO of MAP. “We believe that housing is a human right and we’re thrilled this grant will allow us to assist additional people.”

MAP is a non-profit agency that has been helping Veterans and people with disabilities in southeast Michigan since 1985. The agency provides services to nearly 1,300 people every year who are homeless and need affordable housing, employment opportunities and financial stability. The goal of the agency is to help people achieve their potential and live a satisfying, productive life in their community.

“At Key, we believe all individuals should have access to safe and affordable housing,” said Dave Mannarino, KeyBank’s Michigan Market President. “We’re incredibly proud to support the mission of Michigan Ability Partners and the work their staff is doing to ensure our most vulnerable neighbors can achieve their goals and dreams.”

KeyBank has invested more than $259 million in Michigan since 2017 to support low to moderate income individuals and neighborhoods. This includes lending for affordable housing, small businesses, mortgage and home improvements as well as impactful philanthropy.
