How to manage water resources in African cities, interview with A. Gisclon, deputy managing director of Veolia Water Technologies South Africa.

Ensuring water security has become one of the most important issues for governments worldwide. In countries that are sensitive to climate change, potable water and sanitation requirements are essential. In South Africa, cities are innovating and opting for alternative solutions. Furthermore, a multi-pronged approach is needed to develop optimal life cycle costing models and respond to medium and longer-term priorities. Overly polluted water is frequently much more expensive to treat, acting upstream is indispensable. Accordingly, Veolia Water Technology has developed many technologies to treat water and is involved both in city centers and in coastal cities. The French entity leader in its core business (water use, waste and energy, services solutions for public utilities and private sector clients …) addresses problems in accordance with every location specificity and transforms water into resource to boost the economy.
