Chemours and Georgia 4-H Partner for Youth Environmental Education
Chemours, a global company committed to promoting the responsible use of chemistry, has partnered with the Georgia 4-H Foundation, a prominent youth leadership organization affiliated with the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Cooperative Extension Service. Together, they aim to offer young people educational opportunities focusing on environmental awareness and leadership development.
Through Chemours' Vibrant Communities initiative, the company will provide $225,000 over three years to support Georgia 4-H's environmental science programs. Additionally, Chemours employees will actively participate by volunteering their time and expertise to enhance these initiatives.
Environmental science holds a significant place in the curriculum of Georgia 4-H, with over 170,000 youths participating in its activities annually. Through various platforms including schools, county Extension offices, and six 4-H centers, young participants explore the interconnectedness of ecology, humanity, and the environment.
They gain hands-on experience in areas such as resource conservation and understanding the impacts of environmental stressors through activities like judging teams, camps, classes, and individual projects. The curriculum covers key aspects such as forestry, wildlife, and land conservation, aligning with Georgia's educational standards through research-based programming provided by Georgia 4-H.
