FedEx Expands Career and Economic Opportunity Programs

09/27/2026

Everyone should have a fair opportunity to build a successful career and achieve their goals in life. Through its community initiatives, FedEx supports nonprofit organizations working in three key areas: Learning, Leadership and Economic Opportunity. These programs help students and job seekers develop the skills, qualifications and professional networks needed to pursue careers with opportunities for advancement.

FedEx places particular emphasis on initiatives that respond to changing workforce requirements and create talent pipelines aligned with current industry and hiring demands. Its approach ranges from technology-enabled programs that can reach large audiences, such as its investment in the Dress for Success global online career platform, to institutional capacity building through support for historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), as well as individualized career assistance, including resume workshops conducted with the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.

Learning

Developing a strong and competitive workforce starts with giving people access to knowledge and practical skills. FedEx works with organizations that help young people and job seekers pursue higher education and specialized training, providing them with credentials and expertise that can support long-term career development.

Expanding access to higher education

A college education can play an important role in improving financial security and creating opportunities for upward mobility. However, navigating the route to higher education can be challenging for many students. FedEx supports scholarship programs designed to help students from diverse backgrounds manage the financial and practical challenges associated with attending college.

These initiatives aim to ensure that a student's abilities and ambitions have a greater influence on their future opportunities, while helping more young people obtain the qualifications necessary to enter rewarding careers.

Building digital skills

Technology is transforming virtually every sector, making digital capabilities increasingly important to the future workforce. FedEx supports organizations such as Code Crew, which introduces computer science to young people in Memphis, and Tech 901, which provides job seekers with training in technical skills sought by employers in the Memphis area.

Leadership

Professional success often depends on the ability to communicate effectively, work with others, lead teams and establish meaningful career goals. FedEx provides young people with opportunities to develop these capabilities through mentoring, interactions with company leaders and practical experiences.

Career preparation with the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

Through its collaboration with the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, FedEx combines financial scholarships with practical career preparation for children of military families. Participants receive leadership guidance from FedEx executives, including SVP Neil Gibson, along with resume development and interview preparation provided by the company's Talent Acquisition team.

Developing leaders beyond the classroom

FedEx also supports programs that prepare students for higher education and professional careers. These include the National Urban League's Project Ready and Youth Leadership Summit, as well as the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute and its National Conference.

Through these programs, participants can gain exposure to career possibilities, participate in practical leadership activities, connect with mentors and peers, and develop greater confidence in pursuing their goals.

As National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial has said, investing in young people goes beyond providing scholarships; it also involves helping develop future leaders capable of contributing to their communities and wider society.

Creating pathways through HBCUs

FedEx has committed $2 million over four years to the business schools of Tennessee State University, Jackson State University, Mississippi Valley State University and LeMoyne-Owen College.

The initiative supports scholarships and mentoring, facilitates internship opportunities and helps strengthen faculty capabilities in emerging areas of study.

Economic Opportunity

Expanding economic opportunity involves more than helping people secure their first job. It also means providing the confidence, resources and professional connections people need to advance their careers and take on leadership responsibilities. FedEx works with organizations internationally that provide this type of support according to the needs of the communities they serve.

Supporting women who inspire others

FedEx supports Dress for Success, an organization focused on helping people improve their economic prospects through professional development, workplace clothing and career assistance.

In 2026, FedEx EVP and General Counsel Gina Adams was recognized through the organization's Women Who Inspire campaign, a global initiative highlighting individuals who support and encourage others in their professional journeys.

Building careers in logistics

The logistics industry is expanding rapidly across Latin America, while employers face challenges in finding workers with the necessary skills. To address this issue, FedEx and the International Youth Foundation (IYF) developed Jóvenes con Entrega.

The initiative integrates logistics education into public education systems, helping ensure that students develop capabilities that correspond with actual employer requirements. The program demonstrates how collaboration between education providers and industry can help prepare young people for growing sectors of the economy.

Carolina Chong, Managing Director of Human Resources at FedEx Mexico, said the partnership with IYF has helped address skills shortages while creating opportunities for young people to enter careers with strong growth potential. She also highlighted the contribution of FedEx employees whose participation and professional knowledge support the development of a more inclusive and future-oriented workforce.

Supporting veterans and military families

The Hiring Our Heroes Small Business Grant Program provides one-time financial assistance to small businesses owned by veterans and military spouses. The grants are intended to help these businesses maintain their operations and expand their contributions within their local communities.

With support from the FedEx Founder's Fund and USAA Small Business Insurance, five veteran- and military spouse-owned businesses each received a $10,000 grant in 2025.

Together, these initiatives form part of FedEx's broader effort to connect people with education, career preparation, leadership development and economic opportunities, while helping nonprofit partners respond to changing workforce needs.
