Quail Conservation at Dividing Creek: Restoring Habitat in New Jersey
The Northern Bobwhite Quail, a ground-nesting bird commonly found in grasslands, has seen a sharp decline in New Jersey as farmland has diminished, forests have aged, and farming practices have shifted.

For years, Covia’s Dividing Creek team has collaborated with the South Jersey Quail Project to restore declining grasslands by creating protective cover and releasing quail on the site. Our land provides an ideal environment for adult quail releases, which play an important role in helping preserve this native species. Twice each year—in spring and fall—we release birds and take pride in watching them settle into improved habitats, - Brian Lenhart, Plant Manager (Dividing Creek)
