KuCoin Partners to Deliver 5,000 Menstrual Hygiene Kits in Sumatra Disaster Relief Initiative

02/12/2026

KuCoin has partnered with the Global CSR Foundation and the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) to support Yayasan Srikandi Merah Putih’s “A Matter of Dignity – Sumatra Relief Initiative” by providing 5,000 menstrual hygiene kits. The wider humanitarian response also includes the distribution of essential medications and fresh food, alongside targeted women’s health support for communities impacted by disasters in Aceh and Medan, Sumatra.

The distribution is planned to commence in early April 2026, prioritizing areas facing the most severe impacts from recent disasters and ongoing recovery difficulties.

“This program is about addressing emergencies in a way that safeguards both survival and dignity,” said Aurelly Syifalia Widihartanto, Co-Founder of Yayasan Srikandi Merah Putih. “Women are often disproportionately affected during disasters, yet their fundamental health needs are frequently neglected. We aim to ensure that assistance reaches communities swiftly, respectfully, and responsibly.”

The initiative builds on an ongoing partnership between AMWA’s Global Health Lead, Dr. Padmini Murthy, and the Global CSR Foundation, founded by Jing Zhao Cesarone. It marks the program’s expansion into Indonesia through Yayasan Srikandi Merah Putih, with leadership support from Vice President Stefanny Florina.

The Menstrual Equity Project, developed by Dr. Padmini Murthy and Jing Zhao Cesarone, has already been implemented in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the Republic of Suriname, and clinics affiliated with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This proven framework is now being adapted to meet the needs of Indonesian communities.

KuCoin is supporting the procurement and shipment of the hygiene kits through its CSR Director and Global HR Director, Sylvie Dong, enabling timely delivery of critical women’s health supplies. “Corporate responsibility means taking practical action when communities face crisis,” said Sylvie Dong. “KuCoin remains committed to CSR initiatives that address real needs and provide meaningful on-the-ground support.”

Local distribution of medicines, food, and hygiene kits in Aceh and Medan is being coordinated by Maha Medicare, which has been supporting flood-affected communities in Medan since December.

The program has received backing from regional and national leaders, including H. Teuku Badruddin Syah, Sultan of Aceh, demonstrating strong local commitment to recovery efforts. National support is further reflected through the involvement of Agustina Hastarini, spouse of the Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Indonesia, and La Ode Ikrar Hastomi representing the Ministry of Industry, highlighting government participation in cross-sector humanitarian collaboration.

The initiative has also gained support from well-known Indonesian public figures who are helping to promote dignity-centered humanitarian assistance. Actors and actresses including Baim Wong, Rianti Cartwright, Dame Aning, Nadya Shakira, Ririn Dwi Ariyanti, and Metta Permadi are raising awareness about women’s health, access to essential services, and the importance of dignity in disaster relief.

The program was officially introduced at a private press dinner titled “A Matter of Dignity” on Friday, 6 February 2026, at Sushi Maru Hang Tuah in Jakarta, attended by foundation leaders, government officials, medical professionals, business leaders, public figures, and senior media representatives.

Following distribution, verified impact reports, documentation, and visual materials from Aceh and Medan will be shared with the media.
