As internet access becomes increasingly essential to everyday life, affordability continues to prevent some families from getting reliably connected. T-Mobile says its community connectivity efforts are focused on making internet access more affordable and expanding opportunities for people who might otherwise be left behind. The company says broader access to connectivity can support families, students and communities.
Supporting Students and Schools
Education increasingly depends on reliable internet access. Students use connected devices for virtual classes, homework, research, assignments and communication with teachers. However, many U.S. households continue to experience challenges with affordability and dependable connectivity.
According to a 2025 survey commissioned by T-Mobile, three in 10 parents said their home internet connection was only somewhat reliable. One in four respondents also said they had reduced spending on essentials such as food or utilities to cover the cost of internet service.
T-Mobile's Project 10Million is designed to address these challenges. The program provides qualifying households with free hotspots and five years of internet service, as well as access to lower-cost laptops and tablets. Eligible school districts can also receive in-kind products and services, subsidized data plans and affordable connected devices.
The program has continued to evolve to meet changing student needs. In August 2025, T-Mobile introduced upgraded 5G hotspot devices for new Project 10Million customers. The company also updated its online application and support resources to make them easier to navigate and launched an onboarding campaign aimed at helping families make use of their connectivity benefits.

Six Years of Project 10Million Impact
Since its launch in 2020, Project 10Million and related programs have connected more than 6.7 million K-12 students. T-Mobile currently describes the initiative as part of its effort to connect 10 million students with internet access.
From 2020 through 2025, the program reported:

Partnerships Expand Access
Technology alone cannot eliminate the digital divide. Partnerships with community organizations can help families learn about available resources and access them.
T-Mobile continued its collaboration with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), which worked with 28 local organizations across the U.S. in 2025 to increase awareness of Project 10Million. The company also joined BGCA, the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities and UnitedHealthcare for a Back-to-School campaign.
According to T-Mobile, the combined outreach contributed to one of the program's strongest enrollment months, with nearly 47,000 households joining Project 10Million in September 2025.

Feedback From Project 10Million Customers
T-Mobile also surveyed program participants to better understand how Project 10Million was being used. Among more than 38,000 respondents in 2025:
- 91% said their Project 10Million hotspot was helpful for completing homework.
- 85% said participation had a positive effect on their perception of T-Mobile.
- 79% said they were somewhat or very satisfied with their service and device.
One parent described the impact of having reliable connectivity at home, saying the service allowed their children to connect and learn immediately, while giving them greater independence and easier access to information.
Project 10Million remains a central part of T-Mobile's effort to expand digital access for underserved K-12 students. The company currently says eligible students can receive a free hotspot and 200GB of internet data annually for five years, subject to program terms and eligibility requirements.
