Cisco Makes The Global Communities Ready To Face And Recover From Disasters

11/22/2016

Even if no one wants to be caught in the midst of a disaster, it is not in anyone’s hands to always avoid one. Therefore, Cisco does the next best thing by preparing people as a community to tackle with such conditions and much more than that.

Dailycsr.com – 21 November 2016 – Cisco Systems Inc.’s S.V.P, chief of security as well as trust officer, John N. Stewart, informs about the company’s CSR commitments by providing “technology and expertise” for establishing “secure emergency networks” for the “governments, first responders, and relief organizations globally” to access the same.

The team of “Cisco Tactical Operations”, in short “TacOps” is on continuous vigil, watching out for “crises around the world”, whereby to dispatch help and equipment to restore communication wherever required. During the last decades, the TacOps of Cisco replied to forty different incidents, whereby the recent one being in North Carolina for supporting communication system when the “Hurricane Matthew” struck there. Stewart stated:
“I’m proud to share that Cisco will work alongside the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management (SFDEM) to assist the City of San Francisco in crisis response and recovery. SFDEM has a monumental responsibility and a difficult job.
We are there to work with the SFDEM to deploy emergency communications solutions when needed. When a crisis arises in San Francisco, Cisco’s TacOps team will be ready to apply secure, satellite-based, interoperable communications systems for the SFDEM and humanitarian organizations to coordinate relief efforts for those in need”.

As per the severity of the crisis, Cisco will be prepared to roll out its “Network Emergency Response Vehicle”, the latter being an entirely independent centre for “command and communications”, the design of which has been developed for establishing “interoperable communications”. As a result, it is useful in providing “mission-critical networking” for carrying out operations “during a disaster”. Moreover, Cisco has other “portable solutions” to offer like “Emergency Communications Kit” or the “Rapid Response Kit”, both of them can be easily set up for use, while their strong make enables them to “withstand” hostile weathers.

Furthermore, Stewart added:
“Though we don’t ever wish for it, crisis happens; hoping won’t divert a crisis. We need to be ready. We’re here to work with the SFDEM to share information, and coordinate preparedness planning, training exercises, and community outreach”.

Here is yet another example of Cisco’s collaboration with governments and other industry members to create a safer and a better world for the humanity. In fact, it does not end with this, Cisco prepares communities around the world, not only to respond in an emergency situation but also to recover the communities after a disaster strikes.
