Veterans At New England Lives Their Dreams

08/18/2016

The annual ‘CVS Health Baseball Camp’ allows the veterans to try their hands at baseball.

Dailycsr.com – 15 August 2016 – CVS Health organised a “CVS Health Baseball Camp” in collaboration with the Boston Red Sox, wherein New England’s veterans were invited. The said occasion provided an opportunity to be groomed by the “Boston Red Sox hitting coaches”.

The camp included a day filled with activities that brought one close to the “most beloved ballpark” of America. The CVS Health Baseball Camps is an annual event that began in the year of 2010 in collaboration with Boston Red Sox and CVS Health. The duo also made the event an occasion to host the veterans.

Chili Davis, the “Boston Red Sox Hitting Coach” along with Victor Rodriguez, the assistant coach, provided batting tips to the veterans, while they also “got to take a few swings at the Green Monster”. All these activities were followed by an enjoyable lunch at “Red Sox dugout”, while the participants were also given “exclusive access to the historic ballpark” through a VIP tour. Moreover, tickets for Los Angeles Angels’ evening games were also made available for them.

The participants were from two veterans organisations that are based out of New England:
  • New England Center and Home for Veterans: A private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness for our nation’s veterans.
  • 1st Lieutenant Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Foundation: A fund that provides financial assistance for Massachusetts soldiers and families who have incurred career-ending and life-altering injuries while on active duty.
