Employees of Habit Burger & Grill volunteered at the Orange County Food Bank in Garden Grove, California, taking part in a two-hour Pack-a-Box initiative to support people experiencing food insecurity.
A team of 38 employees worked together to assemble and fill food boxes for more than 2,200 local children and senior citizens in need. During the event, they packed 1,109 boxes containing a total of 35,488 pounds of nutritious food.
Their collective effort provided enough food to deliver an estimated 66,540 meals to people in the surrounding community—all within their two-hour volunteer session.
The initiative was part of Yum!’s Food & Futures in Action Month, which promotes the principle that everyone deserves access to nutritious food and opportunities for a better future. The Habit team contributed 76 volunteer hours toward Yum!’s 8-Hour Challenge, a programme encouraging every above-restaurant employee to dedicate at least eight hours annually to volunteering.
