Del Monte Foods partners with Healthier Generation to launch Holiday recipe site

11/29/2022

Del Monte Foods and Healthier Generation Launch Holiday Recipe Site promoting improved nutrition.

Del Monte Foods, Inc. and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation (Healthier Generation) are advancing their joint initiative "Nourishing Families by Nourishing Schools" this holiday season to support the well-being of youth and communities across the United States by launching virtual resources and content that foster wellness and connections through mealtimes.

The holiday-themed website provides family-friendly recipes that make nutritious meals accessible, affordable, and approachable, while also putting a fun spin on some holiday classics. Del Monte Foods and Healthier Generation are working together to give the gift of joy during meals this holiday season.

“In partnership with Healthier Generation, we’re excited this holiday season to celebrate and foster connections through mealtimes,” said Bibie Wu, Chief Marketing Officer at Del Monte Foods. “With how-to videos and simple recipe cards, we’re making it easy for kids to get involved in preparing meals — for the holidays and year-round — all with the goal of promoting overall well-being.”

Del Monte Foods announced in September 2022 that it will commit $5 million over the next ten years to nourish the physical, mental, and social-emotional well-being of youth and communities across the United States. This pledge supports the company's Growers of GoodTM mission to cultivate a healthier and more hopeful tomorrow by making nutritious foods more accessible to all.

Del Monte Foods and Healthier Generation have committed to reaching 7.5 million students and their families by partnering with 10,000 schools to provide holistic nutrition education, resources, and content. With direct-to-family and direct-to-school support to increase food and nutrition access, the partnership aims to improve health equity and redefine total health and wellness in the United States.

The holiday campaign is the two organizations' latest attempt to redefine health and wellness. Mealtime gatherings can help children develop social skills, boost confidence, and increase feelings of happiness in addition to nourishing the body. Meals are also a chance to share and strengthen family traditions, from favorite foods to time-honored dishes to the ways in which families gather.

"There is a growing need for more resources to support family nutrition and wellness amid the staggering effects of historic health inequities,” said Kathy Higgins, CEO of Healthier Generation.

“Bringing families and loved ones together this holiday season to share in the creation of nutritious and fun dishes can have an important and lasting impact on the overall well-being of youth and families. We’re thrilled to partner with Del Monte Foods in this effort and to bring even more resources to communities through our partnership.”
