Fifth Third Bank Offers Free Online Wills via Trust & Will Partnership

07/09/2025

Fifth Third Bank has launched a groundbreaking initiative to provide free wills to all its customers through an exclusive collaboration with Trust & Will, a leading U.S.-based digital estate planning service.

Effective immediately, Fifth Third customers can take advantage of a secure, step-by-step online platform to create a legally valid, state-specific will. The process is attorney-approved, easy to follow, and can be completed in under an hour—entirely free of charge. This initiative aims to ease emotional and financial burdens by simplifying an often-overlooked aspect of financial planning.

The collaboration is designed to tackle a major shortfall in estate planning across the country. Trust & Will’s 2025 Estate Planning Report, based on a survey of 10,000 U.S. adults, revealed that while 83% of Americans recognize the importance of having a will, only 31% have one. The data also highlights disparities in preparedness, with older adults, higher-income earners, and men more likely to have a plan in place than younger, lower-income individuals and women.

“At Fifth Third, we’re redefining digital banking by providing innovative tools that address real-life needs,” said Ben Hoffman, Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Consumer Products at Fifth Third. “We began by accelerating access to paychecks, then enhanced payment tools and fraud protection. Now, through this unique partnership, we’re helping our customers protect their futures and build lasting legacies.”

Failing to have an estate plan can place families under considerable strain, especially during difficult times. Without a will, accessing critical resources—such as funds for rent, utility bills, or funeral costs—can become a major challenge. This free will offering ensures that customers from all backgrounds can safeguard their assets and provide for their loved ones, regardless of income.

“Our goal is to make estate planning a reality for every household,” said Cody Barbo, CEO of Trust & Will. “Partnering with Fifth Third helps us bring that vision to life by making this essential service more widely accessible.”
