On April 17th, FedEx celebrated its 52nd anniversary, which also marked 100 days since the devastating California wildfires. To honor both milestones, FedEx team members from across the Los Angeles region joined forces with Feed the Children, World Central Kitchen, and the local nonprofit Watchitgrow Inc. to support 400 families impacted by the fires. The community event took place in Altadena, an area where many residents lived in long-standing family homes—many of which lacked insurance coverage.
Throughout the day, FedEx volunteers provided hands-on support by connecting with families and helping load essential goods into their vehicles. Each household received a shelf-stable food box that could feed a family of four for up to five days, in addition to basic household items, Avon beauty products, and books. Feed the Children supporter and FedEx customer Mattel also contributed by donating backpacks packed with children’s toys, including Barbies and Hot Wheels.
Before leaving, families were treated to a freshly prepared meal from World Central Kitchen and were given a $100 voucher to use at a local restaurant. The community expressed heartfelt appreciation for the ongoing assistance. One person shared, “We were running out of food since we were victims of the Eaton Fire. These boxes of food and supplies have truly been a blessing.” Another noted, “Our home was destroyed and we didn’t have insurance. Thanks to this support, we can now focus on saving to rebuild.”
In addition, the FedEx Los Angeles team partnered with Operation Warm to provide more than 600 pairs of brand-new shoes to students at Jackson Elementary School in Altadena, another community affected by the fires.
