Addressing ‘The Ongoing Need For Insect Repellent’ In The Brazilian Community

SC Johnson reaches out to people in Brazil in their difficult time to battle mosquito borne diseases during the mosquito season.


Dailycsr.com – 27 February 2018 – SC Johnson made an announcement to inform about its donation of “100,000 units” of “personal insect repellent” as a help towards protecting people in Brazil against “the Aedes aegypti mosquito”, a transmitter of various diseases like “Zika, chikungunya and yellow fever”.
 
As the season of mosquitoes draws near, Brazil observed a recent increment in “the number of yellow fever cases”. By donating this “personal insect repellent” through local NGOs, “social service” as well as community programmes, SC Johnson joins in the effort to protect “as many people as possible” from mosquito borne diseases. SC Johnson’s “Global Corporate Affairs, Communication and Sustainability” senior vice-president, Kelly M. Semrau, said:
“Using insect repellent regularly is essential to preventing mosquito bites. We are gratified that we can help communities protect themselves against mosquitoes.”
 
The products, thus donated, will be distributed through SC Johnson’s collaboration with “several key community organizations” including “ABRINQ, Associação de Assistência à Criança Deficiente (AACD), Aldeias Infantis, Bola Pra Frente, Fundos Socias Cajamar, Parceiros da Educacao, and Sonhar Acordado”.
 
Around “100,000 Brazilians” will benefit from the donated “personal insect repellent”, while the NGOs in collaboration have geared up for the product distribution “as quickly as possible”, whereby reaching out to the communities that need the product most in “this difficult time”.
 
In fact, in 2016 when the dengue fever and Zike outbreak seized people, the SC Johnson made a donation of over “$15 million in pest control products” besides providing “financial support to charitable organizations”. Bola Pra Frente’s executive director, Carlos Oliveira, said:
“We are pleased to partner with SC Johnson to provide our community with the prevention tools necessary to help protect families from mosquitoes, as this crucial donation will help to address the ongoing need for insect repellent throughout our community”.
