U.S. News & World Report has unveiled its 2026 Banking and Investing Platform Awards, recognizing top performers across 13 categories. This year’s edition introduces two new Editors’ Choice honors: “Best Account to Lock in High Rates” and “Most Comprehensive Investing Platform.”
The awards arrive during a period of economic uncertainty in the United States, which has affected how confident many individuals feel about saving and investing for the future.
According to Greg Garrison, a recent 2026 survey by the organization found that a significant number of Americans are seeking stronger savings options. He noted that while today’s economic climate can make long-term financial planning seem challenging, the awards highlight tools and platforms that can help people meet both short-term savings goals and long-term investment plans, along with resources to improve financial literacy.
Among the winners, Sallie Mae earned the Editors’ Choice award for “Best Account to Lock in High Rates” for its 60-month CD, recognized for offering competitive returns and a low minimum deposit requirement.
Meanwhile, Interactive Brokers received the Editors’ Choice title for “Most Comprehensive Investing Platform.” Its platform stood out for providing access to a wide range of asset classes—including stocks, bonds, cryptocurrencies, options, and foreign exchange—catering to both beginner investors and experienced traders.
