Planet Water Foundation’s makes global impact on access to safe clean water
The Planet Water Foundation, a leading non-profit that focuses on access to clean safe water, is celebrating Global Handwashing Day, by providing handwashing and sanitation education programs across communities in need.

Ahead of the Global Handwashing Day, which will takes place on October 15, Planet Waters Foundation, with the support of business partners, aims to launch 20 projects across 6 countries to provide handwashing facilities, education on the subject along with healthy hygiene practices. It will also provide access to safe and clean drinking water for students and their families in poor rural communities.

In 2019, according to figures from the United Nations, 818 million children lacked access to basic sanitation services in schools.

Since its foundation in 2009, Planet Water has provided beneficiary schools with handwashing facilities. It has deployed its AquaTower water filtration system in more than 1,500 schools across 15 countries; this includes an integrated handwashing station that show handwashing educational messages in local languages.

The projects have been implemented in conjunction with Planet Water, wherein students are taught about germs and how they spread, how and when to wash hands, along with ways to create healthy hygiene habits.

Recent events have reinforced the importance of hand washing and we are pleased to be able to expand our impact by providing handwashing facilities and hygiene education to communities. need support”, said Kristen Steele, V.P. Training at Planet Water.

This year's series of projects was carried out by Planet Water's corporate partners, many of whom also sent volunteers to join the Planet Water team in each country, helping to set up handwashing facilities, training teachers and children on handwashing techniques and providing water rights in Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Philippines and Vietnam.
