Key initiatives include:
- Site Readiness Program: This initiative helps identify and prepare promising industrial sites for development by working closely with county officials, local economic leaders, and landowners. Since its launch in Florida in 2013, the program has generated 1,650 new jobs and attracted over $545 million in investments.
- Economic Development Grants: In 2024, the Duke Energy Foundation, with support from the company’s Economic Development team, awarded over $890,000 in grants to organizations engaged in strategic planning, lead generation, marketing, product development, and research to enhance community competitiveness.
- Project Management Services: Recognizing that energy plays a critical role in business location decisions, Duke Energy provides expert project management support to local and state economic development groups. These efforts ensure communities have access to vital resources and tools to attract and retain business investment.
Beth Cicchetti, Executive Director of the Florida Economic Development Council, praised the partnership: “Florida is fortunate to have such strong leadership and commitment from businesses like Duke Energy. Their Economic Development team is a valued collaborator in making Florida a more attractive and competitive environment for business growth.”
