United Rentals online rental catalogue includes emissions level information for equipment

12/20/2022

Customers can now filter equipment rental decisions based on emissions levels.

In a statement United Rentals Inc, the world's largest equipment rental company, announced its online rental catalogue now includes emissions level information for all equipment. The ability to see the emissions level when selecting equipment helps companies make more informed decisions to choose the right equipment that supports their jobsite needs and sustainability goals.

Companies can browse, search, and select equipment by filtering by emissions level using the United Rentals online catalog. This new catalogue feature simplifies understanding the environmental impact of various equipment options. The four emission level categories in the catalogue are as follows:
  • Zero Emissions, which is comprised of equipment powered by battery, electric or solar. When in use, this equipment emits no emissions.
  • Low Emissions, which includes machinery powered by hybrid, propane, or natural gas engines.
  • Lower Diesel Emissions, including Tier 4 US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) certified engines. Tier 4 engines have the most stringent emissions requirements for diesel engines currently in place.
  • Standard Emissions, which include the majority of gas and diesel-powered equipment. Engines certified by the USEPA power the equipment.

A green symbol next to the cat class indicates equipment with zero or low emissions in the catalog. Companies can learn more about emissions options, including equipment types and featured in the catalog, by visiting the United Rentals equipment emissions webpage.

“We are committed to providing our customers with a wide range of equipment options to support their sustainability goals,” said Joli Gross, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of United Rentals.

“With our new online catalog feature, we give customers the power to select equipment to create lower-emission worksites without compromising safety or productivity.”

United Rentals is committed to reducing its own environmental footprint while assisting customers in meeting their sustainability objectives. The white paper Sustainability at United Rentals contains additional information about the company's holistic approach.
