Taco Bell introduces plant-based protein in Birmingham

09/02/2022

Fans of Taco Bell in Birmingham, AL have another reason to snag its latest cheesy offering. For a limited time, locals can gorge on Taco Bell’s Crispy Melt Taco.

Taco Bell’s Crispy Melt Taco starts with a freshly made white corn tortilla layered on a delicious melted blend of shredded cheddar, mozzarella, and Monterey pepperjack cheese, topped up with another layer of warm nacho cheese. This is then topped up with an assortment of proteins.

Vegetarians and flexitarians alike will be delighted with the first option, which is an all-new, boldly flavored plant-based protein, which is a proprietary blend of soy and pea protein, inspired by classic Taco Bell flavors.

The taco is then topped up with grated lettuce, more cheddar cheese, juicy diced tomatoes and low-fat sour cream.

Taco Bell fans can also opt for the taco with seasoned beef. Regardless of the protein, the Crispy Melt Taco is available for just $2.49.

During this trial, NachosBellGrande® will also contain proprietary plant-based protein that can be added to each menu item by individual Customization of the order.

Protein is certified vegan by the American Vegetarian Association (AVA).

Proprietary plant-based protein may be coveted, as may The Bell ® knowhow to do it, but it's just the latest innovation in Taco Bell's decade-long vegetarian journey. Other recent vegetarian trials have included plant-based protein Cravetarian and Naked Chalupa with a plant-based crunchy shell, while Taco Bell's BeyondMeat product partnership will be available before the end of this year.
