Enhancing Digital Literacy and Education: AMD Learning Labs Impact Worldwide

07/11/2023

School administrators and AMD recently marked the inauguration of the latest AMD Learning Lab at KIPP Collegiate High School in Austin, Texas. These labs aim to enhance technology availability for marginalized young individuals and inspire their interest in STEM education. This contribution includes 25 brand-new computers powered by AMD, which will be utilized in two Career and Technical Education classrooms.

The computers will facilitate learning in various subjects such as robotics, engineering, graphics design and animation, engineering design, and advanced computer science. Moreover, students enrolled in these courses through the Career and Technical Education program will have the opportunity to develop valuable career skills, earn certifications, and gain practical work experience through internships.

"At AMD, we're passionate about enabling the imagination and creativity of the next generation of innovators," said Forrest Norrod, AMD’s executive vice president and general manager, data center solutions group. “With access to powerful technology in the classroom, students are better equipped to explore and learn. We are proud to provide these systems for KIPP Austin Collegiate and look forward to seeing what the students build with them next."
Starting from 2019, AMD Learning Labs have had a positive impact on students and educators across six different locations globally: Santa Clara, California; Markham, Ontario; Austin, Texas; Shanghai, China; Singapore, Singapore; and Penang, Malaysia. These labs have been instrumental in enhancing digital literacy and imparting knowledge in coding, robotics, video production, game design, and graphics design by offering access to advanced technology. It's worth noting that the Learning Labs are just one component of AMD's broader initiatives dedicated to supporting students in K-12 and higher education.
