Leaders Who Prepare Communities To Tackle Natural Disasters Are Urged To Apply For The “Travelers Excellence in Community Resilience Award”

The Travelers Foundation is open to receive applications for the “Travelers Excellence in Community Resilience Award”. The winner to receive “$100,000 grant”.


Dailycsr.com – 21 October 2015 – The Travelers Companies, Inc. announced that its “charitable arm” the Travelers Foundation is open for “accepting” applicant’s entry for the annual “Travelers Excellence in Community Resilience Award”.
 
The said award was initiative to give recognition to the organisations that dedicate themselves to help communities recover themselves or prepare themselves in advance to cope with any “catastrophic events”. The winner if this competition will be awarded with a sum of “$100,000 grant”. The said prize will be presented in the annual session of “Kicking Off Hurricane Preparedness Season” conference which will be hosted by “Travelers Institute”, a public policy division of Travelers Companies, Inc., whereby the President cum the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Marlene Ibsen states:
“Effectively planning for catastrophes, and being able to quickly recover from them, stabilizes communities and helps them to thrive. Travelers is pleased to offer this award to organizations that demonstrate leadership in addressing safety, community resilience or financial threats related to catastrophic events.”
 
In the month of June, the inaugural award of “Travelers Excellence in Community Resilience Award” was given to Team Rubicon. The latter is a non-profit organisation which concentrates on leveraging the “skills and experiences of military veterans” so as to make them ready for deploying “emergency response teams after disasters”. In the co-founder and the C.E.O of Team Rubicon, Jake Wood’s words:
“It was an honor to be recognized for the work we do to help communities. The Travelers Excellence in Community Resilience Award has helped to improve our ability to train veterans in responding to disasters and help those in need.”
 
The closing date of the application receipt is on the 18th December 2015. The criteria for the award applicants or for any guidelines, the latter are requested to visit the “Travelers Community website”; while BusinessWire writes:
