The Lion King celebrates through lion conservation campaign.

Dailycsr.com – 01 July 2019 – Disney is celebrating the release of The Lion King with a “global conservation campaign” which aims to spread awareness and gathered support to strengthen the “dwindling lion population across Africa”. Disney claims the said feature film directed by Jon Favreau to be a “groundbreaking” one which is slated to hit the theatres on July 19, 2019.

The first film on The Lion King was released twenty five years ago and within these twenty five years the African lion population have reduced by 50%. Due to habitat destruction, increased poaching and “loss of prey”, the lions continue to face life threats, although research declared that the lion population can be recovered.

So far, Disney has made donations over “$1.5 million” to the “Lion Recovery Fund and its partners”. Furthermore, the company is going to create “additional grants” and urge fans to help double the donation amount whereby totalling the amount to “$3 million”.

The “Lion King Protect the Pride campaign” invites fans to take part in the celebration and purchase “special edition products”. The Disney team said:
“When we protect lions, we protect the entire circle of life”.

The “Wildlife Conservation Network” has made an “unparalleled reputation” for leading, managing and evaluating the programmes “they oversee”. It is one of Disney’s “premiere programs” in support of “organizations working across Africa to double the number of lions in the wild by 2050”. And the company added:
“By protecting lions, we also are protecting the health and well-being of the savanna, wildlife and communities who live alongside them”.
