Comcast NBCUniversal Donates iPads to Roybal Film and Television Production Magnet

07/06/2023

Comcast NBCUniversal has generously provided a donation of 90 iPads to the Roybal Film and Television Production Magnet, which is a specialized secondary school program aimed at cultivating a more inclusive pathway for historically underrepresented students who aspire to pursue careers in the film and television industries. Located within the Edward R. Roybal Learning Center in Los Angeles, CA, this curriculum strives to prepare students for college and career opportunities. The iPads will be utilized to enhance internet access and foster the development of digital skills among the Roybal students.

This contribution is a part of Comcast's Project UP, a remarkable $1 billion initiative dedicated to advancing digital equity. Through various programs and community partnerships, Project UP aims to connect individuals to the internet, promote economic mobility, and create opportunities for the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers, and creators.

During a special event, Craig Robinson, the Chief Diversity Officer at NBCUniversal and a member of the Roybal School Advisory board, engaged in a fireside chat moderated by Enrique Chiabra, an Emmy award-winning journalist and News Anchor for Noticiero Telemundo 52. Robinson shared his own career journey, emphasized the significance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the business world, and took questions from the students at the Edward Roybal Learning Center. At the conclusion of the discussion, Robinson presented the generous donation from Comcast NBCUniversal to the school.
