Hormel Foods Corporation Offers ‘Canned Luncheon’ And ‘Microwave Meals’ To The Flood Victims Of South Carolina

10/22/2015

The Hormel Foods Corporation will be providing nutritional food to the flood victims of South Carolina in an attempt to take care of the protein intake of the flood victims.

Dailycsr.com – 21 October 2015 – In an announcement, the Hormel Foods Corporation informed that it will be donating “two semi-trailer loads of product” which will be used to help the “relief efforts in South Carolina” which has been affected by flood.

Moreover, one Austin Market™ semi-trailer thus donated will carry “canned luncheon loaf”; while the other semi-trailer will be loaded with “Hormel® Compleats® microwave meals”. Both the semi-trailers will go to the “Feeding America food banks” situated in the flood affected areas whereby people are in need of food. The corporate communications’ Vice President, Wendy A. Watkins stated:
“Those affected by these devastating floods are in our thoughts and prayers. We hope this donation will help the people in need during this difficult time.”

Moreover, the canned luncheon provided by Austin Market™ along with the microwave meals by Hormel® Compleats® will fulfil the need of “shelf-stable” protein for the flood victims.

The Hormel® Compleats® has come up with satisfying “microwave meals” which consists of “quality chicken, beef or turkey” along with flavourful vegetables, and staple dishes like potatoes, pasta or rice. The menu has been designed to be convenient in the “relief efforts” as they will provide proteins and do not require refrigeration.

The dishes can be served hot in sixty seconds just by heating it up in microwaves. In fact, the food products come fully cooked; therefore there is no need for further hassle and can be consumed directly off the packets, as often electricity may not be available in a flood stricken area.

Furthermore, BusinessWire writes about Hormel Foods:
“Hormel Foods Corporation, based in Austin, Minn., is a multinational manufacturer and marketer of consumer-branded food and meat products, many of which are among the best known and trusted in the food industry. The company leverages its extensive expertise, innovation and high competencies in pork and turkey processing and marketing to bring branded, value-added products to the global marketplace”.

In fact, it is mentioned in the “Standard & Poor's (S&P) 500 Index” in the 2014’s “S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats”. Additionally the company has also received the title for the “2013 Sustainable Supply Chain of the Year”, as mentioned by the “Refrigerated & Frozen Foods magazine”. Carrying on the list of achievements of Hormel Foods Corporation, BusinessWire states that it was featured in “‘The 100 Best Corporate Citizens’ by Corporate Responsibility Magazine for the seventh year in a row”.

However, the list does not end here as:
“Hormel Foods was also recognized as a 2015 Military Friendly Employer by G.I. Jobs magazine, on the 2015 Best for Vets Employers List by Military Times, and was named one of the 2015 40 Best Companies for Leaders by Chief Executive magazine.
