Certified WELL-Aligned Products: Comprehensive Directory and Participant List

12/07/2023

Today, the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) unveiled its online directory for the Works with WELL initiative, providing a comprehensive resource for users worldwide to find products or solutions that comply with the WELL Building Standard (WELL). The directory, accessible to the public, highlights the commitment to health by international brands whose offerings have been confirmed to support WELL features and carry the Works with WELL certification.

Launched earlier this year by IWBI, the Works with WELL program caters to the growing need for products and solutions that promote healthier buildings. It enables manufacturers and service providers to verify and showcase how their products meet the WELL Building Standard’s criteria. Organizations that pass a third-party review of their documentation are granted the privilege to use the Works with WELL mark on their approved products, services, and solutions.

Jessica Cooper, the Chief Product Officer at IWBI, remarked, “The unveiling of the product directory marks a pivotal step in our endeavor to hasten the shift towards healthier buildings, organizations, and communities. This centralized platform allows building professionals such as designers, architects, engineers, and others to effortlessly locate products verified to be in line with WELL, thereby facilitating the selection of health-centric solutions that prioritize human well-being. We’re thrilled to offer this directory as a vital tool to better serve the market and forge a crucial connection between WELL projects and compatible products and solutions.”

In its inaugural year, the program’s focus has been on manufacturers, assessing the compatibility of their products, services, and solutions with WELL features. The initiative has quickly gained traction, with pioneering companies registering over a thousand products across diverse categories. For a product to be associated with a specific feature, it must illustrate its support for a WELL feature requirement and its contribution to a WELL project’s fulfillment of that feature.

Presently, 69 distinct product categories, as defined by the Construction Specification Index (CSI) code, are preliminarily linked to one or more WELL v2 feature requirements. Validated products currently cover 39 feature parts within nine WELL concepts. As the program progresses, the list of eligible product categories and corresponding features is expected to grow. Additionally, organizations have the opportunity to propose their own product alignments for consideration.

The launch of the directory marks a significant enhancement in the accessibility and convenience of the Works with WELL program for the extensive WELL community. This directory lists an array of products and solutions that have been awarded the esteemed Works with WELL designation. Now, users can effortlessly search, navigate, and pinpoint products that meet specific WELL criteria, rendering it an indispensable resource for architects, designers, construction professionals, facility managers, and all those aiming to achieve WELL Certifications, WELL ratings, or a WELL Score.

Key Attributes of the product directory:
  • Searchable database: The directory is equipped with a robust search function, enabling users to locate products by type or manufacturer.
  • Highlighted aligned features: Product entries display the particular WELL feature(s) they comply with, linked directly to the WELL Standard for additional context.
  • Manufacturer Details: Profiles of manufacturers and links to their product websites are available, offering insights into the product attributes and the manufacturer’s dedication to health and wellness.
  • Ease of use: Designed with an intuitive interface, the directory ensures a smooth user experience.
  • Regular updates: The IWBI commits to regularly refreshing the directory with new entries as more products and manufacturers receive the Works with WELL mark.
During the WELL Summit in late September, IWBI introduced the Works with WELL program to the international WELL community, aiming to bolster the rapidly growing adoption of WELL by providing access to WELL-compliant products. To this point, nearly 44,000 projects encompassing close to 5 billion square feet of property in 128 countries have implemented WELL. Thousands of entities, including about 30 percent of Fortune 500 companies, have adopted WELL as a framework for their health-centric initiatives.
