Baker Hughes Launches Global Sustainability Solutions Center in Malaysia
Baker Hughes, a global leader in energy technology, officially unveiled the progress of its Sustainability Solutions Center in Kuala Lumpur during a ceremony at Energy Asia 2025. This center acts as a central hub for delivering and validating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data related to the company’s offerings, supporting both global operations and customer needs.

The center plays a critical role in providing trustworthy, timely, and expert sustainability data, addressing the rising demand for transparency and accountability amid evolving ESG disclosure requirements. It is currently the only global platform from Baker Hughes offering such comprehensive support for clients on their decarbonization initiatives.

“We remain deeply committed to sustainability because it delivers enduring value through our technologies and services,” said Allyson Anderson Book, Chief Sustainability Officer at Baker Hughes. “With regulatory expectations growing worldwide, our center in Malaysia stands as a foundation for delivering reliable ESG insights to our customers and operations. We are proud to contribute to Malaysia’s energy transition efforts with our global sustainability expertise.”

Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), emphasized the significance of Baker Hughes' investment: “This development underscores Baker Hughes’ confidence in Malaysia. Not only have they chosen our country as their Asia Pacific Services Hub, but now they are extending support across their entire global supply chain through the new Sustainability Solutions Center. This aligns perfectly with Malaysia’s energy and sustainability goals outlined in the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR).”

Baker Hughes has operated in Malaysia for over five decades, with Kuala Lumpur serving as a strategic base for both its Industrial Energy & Technology and Oilfield Services & Equipment divisions. The company employs more than 1,200 people in the country and operates one of its three global iCenters—24/7 diagnostic and fleet monitoring facilities overseeing more than 1,000 assets worldwide.

Now serving 120 countries, the Sustainability Solutions Center functions as a critical global platform for ESG data and verification across Baker Hughes’ entire suite of technologies and services. The center was formally introduced to the public during the Energy Asia event held from June 16 to 18 in Kuala Lumpur.
