GAC Quark E-Drive Achieves World’s First Dual ASIL D & Cybersecurity Certification
GAC’s independently developed Quark E-Drive power domain control system has become the first in the world to receive dual certification for deeply integrated ASIL D functional safety and information security, accredited by Germany’s national accreditation body, DAkkS. The evaluation and certification were conducted by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd. (SGS), a globally recognized certification authority.

ISO 26262 is the internationally accepted standard for automotive functional safety, with ASIL D representing the highest level of safety integrity, requiring near-zero tolerance for failures in safety-critical systems. Obtaining DAkkS-accredited ASIL D certification demonstrates that the Quark E-Drive meets the most stringent global automotive safety requirements.

The certified Quark E-Drive system has been in production since February 2025 and is now installed in several models under GAC’s HYPTEC and AION brands. As the industry’s first electric drive power domain system to employ deep integration through a single main control chip, it reduces the overall chip count, lowers risks associated with chip-level failures, and enhances motor controller efficiency to as much as 99.9%. The certification confirms that GAC has successfully completed the full product development lifecycle in full compliance with ISO 26262:2018 functional safety and ISO/SAE 21434:2021 information security standards.

During the development process, the GAC Technology Research Center collaborated closely with SGS experts to strengthen safety design at every stage, ensuring both engineering feasibility and an optimized user experience.

Zhao Hui, Vice President of SGS China, stated, “This certification demonstrates GAC’s strong development capabilities and rigorous processes. We are pleased to support the Quark E-Drive’s safety and look forward to continued collaboration.”

This achievement marks a significant milestone for GAC in e-drive safety and establishes a new global benchmark for the intelligent electric vehicle sector.
