Duke Energy Florida and Tampa Bay Rays: A Partnership for Community Upliftment and Clean Energy Transition

In a joint effort with Duke Energy and the Tampa Bay Rays, agencies in Florida will receive $100,000 to aid clients in settling their energy bills. For each regular season victory by Tampa Bay’s Major League Baseball team, the company donated $1,000 to the Share the Light Fund® agencies.
 
The Share the Light Fund initiative is a customer support scheme designed to assist Florida inhabitants in covering utility costs such as electricity, natural gas, oil, or wood. The Duke Energy Foundation matches all contributions dollar for dollar, up to $500,000.
 
Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with organizations like the Rays and local community agencies committed to community upliftment. She emphasized the importance of such partnerships in linking customers with available aid and expressed her eagerness to continue working together to support those in need.
 
To draw attention to the partnership and increase awareness of the financial assistance available, 
 
Rays President Brian Auld expressed pride in collaborating with Duke Energy to contribute to their Tampa Bay community. He highlighted the significance of the program in assisting those in need and providing a platform to showcase the outstanding work of local community agencies.
 
All collected funds are distributed locally by county each month to 14 United Way and other social service agencies to help Duke Energy Florida customers based on their needs. Over $1.7 million in energy bill assistance was distributed to Florida customers through the company’s Share the Light Fund since last year.
