One Fifth Of American Girls Quit Schooling At Puberty

10/23/2018

Always keeps up its long standing commitment to #EndPeriodPoverty which affects a woman’s life beyond feminine hygiene.

Dailycsr.com – 23 October 2018 – Recently conducted “Always Confidence & Puberty Survey” showed that almost one fifth of the girls in America while one seventh of the girls in Canada either leave their schooling early or they even miss their “school entirely” due to the lack of access to “period products”.

It is reported that when the girls attain puberty their confidence level take a hit, whereby “marking the lowest moment for many girls”. However, the condition worsens when they are deprived to “period protection”, as they miss out on many activities which may be crucial in building confidence. As a result, the potential of the girls are reduced far “beyond puberty”.

“Always” believes that period protection should be accessible to every girl and carries out its commitments by helping to end ‘period poverty’. In the United States, Always has partnered with “Feeding America” for donating “15 million period products to girls in need this school year”. The network of Feeding America as well as the “school pantry program” will be used to donate these products.

Moreover, in Canada alone, Always has made a goal of donating “1.5 million pads” to school girls through the schools that have shown their support towards the “Always Puberty And Confidence Education Program”. For the ones interested in joining in this mission to #EndPeriodPoverty, here are the things that could be done, as mentioned by P&G:
  • Join the conversation, and raise awareness of the issue in North America.
  • Post a throwback school photo in social media, tagging @Always (@Always_brand on Instagram) and using the hashtag #EndPeriodPoverty, to trigger a donation of one month’s supply of Always pads to girls in need, through Feeding America in the U.S. and schools that support the Always Puberty and Confidence Education Program in Canada (before 8/20/18 11:59 PM EST). 5
  • Purchase Always Pads and trigger a donation of product to North America school girls in need (before September 9th).

#EndPeriodPoverty ensures girls receive sanitary protections at puberty to retain their confidence. It has been thirty five years now that Always has been nurturing the confidence of girls, while P&G further informed that:
“The Always Puberty & Confidence education programs reach more than 17 million girls annually and in just the past 10 years, Always’ product access programs have delivered more than 80 million pads to girls who need them most around the world”.
