Austria To Have Hydrogen Fuel Passenger Train
Dailycsr.com – 05 November 2020 – Austria is going to get low-carbon rail service for passengers which will be powered by the “hydrogen fuel cell technologies” of Cummins.
Alstom if a railway manufacturer from France who first came up with “world’s first hydrogen fuel cell passenger train” which was named “Coradia iLint in Germany” which ran with the help of fuel cells provided by Cummins. It was a test operation which turned out to be success, whereby following the same the Coradia iLint of Alstom will operate in Austria under the “Austrian Federal Railways”.
The train emits only water and steam as it turns oxygen and hydrogen into electricity with help of “on-board fuel cells”. The train can reach up to “140” km per hour which equals to “86 miles” an hour while it was designed specifically for running on “non-electrified rail lines”.
