Bikers On De Beers’ Payroll Reach Out To Help Street Children

09/29/2017

The company of De Beers is “incredibly proud” of its “diamond” ambassadors’ gestures.

Dailycsr.com – 29 September 2017 – Bikers from De Beers Group, “Fortune Kutumela and Louis Mashinye”, extended their help to street children as the duo were touched by the children’s conditions of living while they were “out on their motorbikes”.

In Louis’ words:
“I could not sleep at night after visiting some of the places where these young children live. I kept thinking about how a young child was trying to fall asleep without so much as a blanket for comfort. That was when I realised that we had the power to change things for them, if we could just pull together.”

Both the bikers are “diamond ambassadors” who reached out to other “biking club” members for blanket donations to protect the “vulnerable children”. In fact, the duo also knocked at the doors of several companies for bagging in support.

As a result, “bikers from across Limpopo Province”, came forward to help “Louis and Fortune” and handed over “blankets, clothes, food and sanitary towels to the Musina Resource Centre for Vulnerable and Orphaned Children”. In fact, the ambassadors also got a donation of “R20,000 from fellow bikers” and other “corporate sponsors”.

The De Beers Consolidated Mines were in “high praise” of both bikers’ initiatives, as the company’s “Corporate Affairs Manager”, Josephine Pieters, stated:
“We are incredibly proud of our diamond ambassadors Louis and Fortune for identifying a worthy cause and rendering their personal funds and time to touch lives. More importantly, they advocated for their charity and inspired others to support them. This spirit of collaboration and purpose is what employee volunteerism is all about.”
