Kimberly-Clark's Accelerator Program: Transforming Global Sanitation Solutions
The Toilet Board Coalition, established in 2015 with the aim of expediting business solutions to combat the sanitation crisis, celebrated the achievements of 12 global sanitation enterprises as the 2023 graduates of its Accelerator program. This program pairs these enterprises with corporate mentors to foster innovation in sanitation, striving to realize universal access to sanitation and hygiene by 2030.

Over a 12-month period, the Accelerator provides these enterprises with invaluable support, including assistance in refining their business models, connections with potential investors, guidance from seasoned mentors, and the opportunity to cultivate long-term relationships with members and partners of the Toilet Board Coalition. Kimberly-Clark, a founding member of the Coalition, demonstrated its commitment by providing ten mentors from its leadership team to support the 2023 cohort of entrepreneurs.

The latest report from the Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) revealed that as of 2022, 1.5 billion people still lack access to safe sanitation services, with 419 million resorting to open defecation. The Accelerator program, now in its ninth year, has seen 70 graduates who collectively impact the lives of over 3 million individuals daily. These businesses operate primarily in low-income regions across Asia and Africa, with the 2023 cohort marking the first expansion into Latin America.

Kimberly-Clark proudly acknowledges the leaders who dedicated their time as mentors for the latest Accelerator graduates, including individuals from companies such as Arena Recycling, INORA, Cresa, Brixsan, M&S Agroindustria, and Servicios Y Soluciones A&S.

Through its active collaboration with the Toilet Board Coalition, Kimberly-Clark demonstrates its global commitment to advancing sanitation and tackling this critical issue on a significant scale. By supporting projects that prioritize prosperity and circularity within the sanitation economy, the company not only showcases its vision but also makes a positive contribution to enhancing human dignity, solidifying its role as an agent of positive change.
