Entergy Supports HBCUs and Community Impact at the Bayou Classic

12/15/2025

Entergy proudly served as a sponsor of the 52nd Bayou Classic, an iconic event that celebrates the history, culture and lasting impact of America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In support of our ongoing commitment to education and community advancement, Entergy donated a total of $100,000, providing $50,000 each to Southern University and A&M College and Grambling State University.

Our long-standing partnership with HBCUs reflects Entergy’s dedication to helping students succeed and build brighter futures. Powering life means more to us than delivering electricity — it represents our responsibility to strengthen and support the communities we call home.

Beyond showcasing top-tier athletic competition, the Bayou Classic honors the traditions, accomplishments and influence of HBCUs across the nation. The event also creates valuable opportunities to connect with fans and highlight the programs Entergy offers to help uplift local communities.

During the Bayou Classic Fan Festival, Entergy’s Consumer Advocacy and Programs team hosted an interactive Power to Care booth that drew thousands of attendees from across the region. Alongside Entergy lineworkers from Southeast Louisiana, the team shared the mission and impact of The Power to Care program, which delivers critical emergency bill assistance to customers facing financial hardship, including seniors and individuals with disabilities.

“Our presence at the Fan Festival was instrumental in increasing awareness of The Power to Care program and demonstrating the meaningful difference donor support makes for vulnerable customers,” said Sandra Diggs-Miller, vice president of consumer advocacy and programs at Entergy. “Connecting directly with attendees allowed us to share real-life stories that illustrate the vital assistance we provide. We remain committed to expanding our efforts to positively impact the lives of those we serve.”

Attracting more than 200,000 attendees annually, the Bayou Classic provides a powerful platform to spotlight New Orleans and Louisiana on a national scale. Through its sponsorship, Entergy not only supports education but also contributes to local economic development by boosting tourism and generating revenue for area businesses.
