Duke Energy Foundation and the Tampa Bay Rays have teamed up to provide $82,000 to help Florida residents with their energy bills.
During the 2025 regular season, Duke Energy Foundation contributed $1,000 to its Share the Light Fund for each Tampa Bay Rays win. The fund supports local organizations that assist customers struggling to pay utility bills. Over the weekend, the Foundation awarded grants to 14 agencies at the Rays’ final home game of the season.
“Although Duke Energy Florida customers can expect lower rates starting March 2026, we recognize that many households still face financial difficulties,” said Melissa Seixas, state president of Duke Energy Florida. “We are committed to going above and beyond for our customers, and we are grateful for the chance to partner with the Tampa Bay Rays again to connect people with the help they need, precisely when they need it.”
The Share the Light Fund helps income-qualified Duke Energy customers cover utility expenses, including electricity, natural gas, oil, or wood. Contributions made through the partnership with the Rays are also matched annually by Duke Energy Foundation, up to $500,000.
“The Tampa Bay Rays share Duke Energy’s dedication to addressing community needs,” said Rays President Brian Auld. “We are proud to continue this partnership and support residents across the Tampa Bay area—and all of Florida—in managing energy costs and powering their lives.”
All donations to the Share the Light Fund are distributed to social service organizations, including United Way and Tampa Bay 2-1-1, to assist customers in need.
So far in 2025, more than $491,000 has been distributed to Florida households through the Share the Light Fund.
