In a statement Alabama-based non-profit, Regions Foundation announced a $25,000 grant to the United Way of the Capital in support of the Jackson water crisis.

Regions Bank, which is the primary funder of Regions Foundation, announced a range of dedicated banking services to help customers in the region who are directly affected by the crisis.

The $25,000 grant amount focuses on short-term as well as long-term needs for people and businesses impacted by the recent flooding which has had a major impact on the main water treatment plant in Jackson, Mississippi. The flooding has caused a multi-day water outage and left the community without a reliable water source.

“United Way and its partner agencies are doing an incredible job by responding quickly to urgent water crisis needs in Metro Jackson and central Mississippi,” said Marta Self, executive director of the Regions Foundation.

She went on to add, “Additional needs will develop as our communities continue to face challenges in achieving adequate water supplies and the Regions Foundation will be there to support the ongoing work.”

“The bank worked quickly to assist affected residents with disaster recovery financial services, said Robert Leard, Metro Jackson’s Market Executive at Regions Bank. “One of the most valuable ways the bank and foundation can make a difference is by coming together to address the broader needs of the community.”

“We are committed to serving and supporting people and businesses in Metro Jackson and throughout Mississippi who are currently struggling with a lack of safe and reliable water,” said Leard. “At times like these, it's especially important for us to come together and ensure resources are available to those who need them most. We hope this $25,000 grant from Regions Foundation to UnitedWay of the Capital Area will significantly help individuals and families as we get through this difficult time together.”
