FedEx Partners Zero Waste Singapore to Promote Smarter Recycling
Federal Express Corporation, a FedEx Corp, subsidiary and a global leader in express transportation, has partnered with non-profit organisation Zero Waste Singapore to introduce the Sort It Out (SIO) campaign. The program aims to help households improve recycling practices while fostering greater awareness around responsible consumption.

FedEx’s support enabled the development of educational resources and community outreach efforts, leading to the launch of a new Recycling Hub fitted with smart, multi-stream recycling bins. In addition, the campaign unveiled the Zero Waste Marketplace, where residents can access second-hand clothing, books, snacks, and upcycled handmade products, encouraging sustainable choices that remain affordable.

On 16 August, a group of 16 FedEx volunteers worked alongside Zero Waste SG to conduct door-to-door surveys in the Queenstown neighbourhood. During these visits, they distributed recycling guides and collected feedback on residents’ recycling behaviours. The initiative has so far engaged more than 1,200 households.

Since the Recycling Hub opened in Queenstown, residents have contributed over three tons of recyclable materials, with contamination levels kept below five percent. This represents a significant improvement over typical recycling standards, as lower contamination ensures higher-quality recyclables and reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills.

The SIO campaign expands on Zero Waste SG’s earlier Let’s Recycle Together initiative, which promoted source-separated recycling to address Singapore’s low national recycling rate. By encouraging households to sort waste at its origin, the program helps residents become more conscious of their consumption patterns and supports the development of sustainable habits—an approach proven internationally to reduce recycling contamination.

These initiatives fall under FedEx Cares, FedEx’s global community engagement platform. Through donations, logistical support, and employee volunteerism, FedEx remains committed to making a meaningful difference in the communities where it operates.
