Dailycsr.com – 26 January 2021 – In an announcement, Scotiabank in a partnership with Mitacs launched the “Scotiabank Economic Resilience Research Fund”.
Mitacs is a non-profit organisation from Canada which carries out “research and training programs” by collaborating with “academia, private industry and government”. In the coming three years’ time, the aim of the “Scotiabank Economic Resilience Research Fund” is to grow the “understanding of the factors” of resilient economic drivers in all the Canadian communities by “underwriting graduate, doctorate, and post-doctorate research internships for students”.
The eligibility for the “student-led research-internship”, namely the “Scotiabank Economic Resilience Research Fund”, will depend on how a proposal addresses the “needs of a Canadian not-for-profit organization or charity partner” besides demonstrating “a focus” in one of the “three key themes”, as mentioned below:
- “Increasing high school graduation and post-secondary participation
- “Accelerating newcomer integration
- “Removing barriers to career advancement for disadvantaged groups”
While, the chief executive officer as well as the scientific director of Mitacs, Dr. John Hepburn said: “Over the past seven years, Mitacs and Scotiabank have partnered on many projects, and we are thrilled to launch our first call-for-proposals with the goal of helping community and not-for-profit organizations through our leveraged funding and network of research experts”.
