Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is deepening its focus on sustainability and empowerment by inviting students across North America, aged 6 to 17, to share their ideas for tackling three United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For its August goIT Monthly Challenge, TCS is asking participants to address:
- SDG 4: Quality Education
- SDG 5: Gender Equality
- SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
Using the principles of design thinking, students will develop and present a concept for a digital solution—such as a mobile app or website—that could help advance one or more of these goals locally or globally. They are not required to create a working prototype, but should clearly demonstrate their research, understanding, and vision for how the idea could be implemented in the future.
Proposals might include tools that make education more equitable, increase access to mentoring, offer STEM tutoring, or provide job-skills training. Creativity is encouraged, and students can approach the challenge from many different angles—the only real limit is their imagination.
