Caring for the Earth goes beyond just the present — it’s about ensuring a healthier planet for generations ahead. While protecting the environment might seem like a task for superheroes, the reality is that it simply takes dedicated individuals.
From planting trees to partnering with local groups to promote eco-friendly efforts, the PSEG Foundation collaborates with numerous organizations committed to making our communities greener and more vibrant. Here’s a look at some of those partnerships:
The Nature Conservancy
The Nature Conservancy is a global nonprofit focused on fostering a world where people and nature coexist and flourish. With support from the PSEG Foundation, we’re nurturing a powerful collaboration in Newark by planting trees in areas that need them most.
In addition to planting trees, they’ve developed an innovative mapping tool that highlights where green spaces are most urgently required throughout Newark. This accessible resource offers detailed data on parks, natural areas, heat zones, and environmental health — enabling residents to take action and help create a more resilient city.
Their work extends beyond planting trees through the Greening Our Cities initiative, which integrates nature into urban environments with science-driven, nature-based solutions designed to help communities better adapt to environmental challenges.
Together, we’re helping Newark and similar cities breathe a little easier.
The Arbor Day Foundation
Since 1972, the Arbor Day Foundation has been championing the power of trees worldwide, planting over 500 million trees across more than 60 countries — and their efforts show no signs of slowing. Their ambitious goal is to plant another half a billion trees by 2027.
We’re proud to have been recognized as a Tree Line USA Utility by the Arbor Day Foundation in 2023, 2024, and 2025, acknowledging PSE&G’s commitment to safe, reliable service and community support through tree planting and care.
The PSEG Foundation also supports their Energy-Saving Trees program, a high-tech tool that helps homeowners determine the best spots to plant trees that reduce energy use and save money.
Recently, we teamed up with the Arbor Day Foundation and NJ Tree Foundation to plant 40 trees at Cadwalader Park in Trenton. Properly placed trees around buildings can reduce cooling costs by up to 30% and lower heating expenses by 20–50%. Beyond energy savings, trees improve air quality, reduce flooding, and enhance neighborhood beauty.
That’s a win-win for everyone involved.
Every tree we plant strengthens our communities.
Sustainable Jersey
Tree planting is just one part of the broader work being done by partners across the state. Building a sustainable future also requires empowering communities with the knowledge, tools, and support to drive lasting change — and that’s where Sustainable Jersey shines.
Sustainable Jersey collaborates with municipalities, schools, and districts statewide to promote a cleaner, greener New Jersey. They work alongside state agencies, nonprofits, academic institutions, and industry experts to identify best practices for sustainability, helping communities take effective action.
The PSEG Foundation has invested $3.4 million over the last 12 years to support Sustainable Jersey’s grants program, enabling schools, local governments, businesses, and residents to implement initiatives ranging from food waste recycling to green infrastructure. This partnership is transforming communities into sustainability leaders equipped to save energy, reduce costs, and protect the environment for future generations.
We’re proud to help create a better tomorrow — starting now.
Because when communities have the right resources and leadership, meaningful change takes root.
Stronger Together
Whether it’s planting trees or empowering local leaders to drive progress, one truth remains clear: we achieve more when we work together.
Through collaboration, dedication, and action, the PSEG Foundation is helping communities flourish and supporting our planet today and for years to come.
Whether you’re planting a tree or adopting energy-saving habits, remember: small efforts add up to big differences. Together, we’re not just dreaming of a better world — we’re building it.
