Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, is strengthening its focus on sustainability and empowerment by inviting North American students aged 6–17 to share their ideas for digital innovations that promote peace and align with the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ensuring peace and resolving conflicts—both globally and personally—is vital for human security, fostering stability, growth, and opportunities.
For the September edition of the goIT Monthly Challenge, TCS encourages students to explore SDG 16: Peace & Conflict Resolution, along with any other SDGs that could support these objectives.
Challenge Prompt: Students are asked to develop a technology-based solution that enhances the well-being of individuals and communities, whether by reducing conflict, promoting safety, or fostering inclusion. Ideas can address issues such as bullying, inequality, violence, cooperation, or strategies to ease tensions. Participants may focus on challenges in their communities, homes, workplaces, or on a global scale.
Students will apply design thinking to conceptualize and present their digital innovation—like a mobile app or website—that advances these goals. There is no requirement to build a working product; the focus is on demonstrating research, understanding, and the potential impact of their idea.
Participants can propose solutions aimed at preventing or resolving conflicts in any form they define, exploring multiple approaches to fostering peace. The scope is limited only by their creativity.
