GoDaddy Fraud Specialist Andre Russell on Passion, Perseverance & Life Beyond Work
What keeps Andre Russell going after nearly 20 years at GoDaddy?
You might expect a typical response—but Andre is anything but typical. By day, he works as a Fraud Detection Specialist. Outside of work, he's a father, coach, DJ, cosplayer, small business owner, and content creator. His story is one of resilience, passion, and always pushing forward.
Can you share your background and career path at GoDaddy?
I came across GoDaddy almost 20 years ago, soon after moving to Arizona for college. At the time, I was in my 20s, simply looking for a job—completely unaware that I was stepping into what would become a long-term career. Not long after joining, I discovered my passion within the Payment Fraud Division, where I took on the role of what I like to call a “Fraud-Fighting Cyber Sleuth.” In this role, I help identify and stop fraudulent activities involving compromised payment methods. It’s a dynamic and rewarding space to work in. Over the years, I’ve grown both personally and professionally alongside GoDaddy, and it’s been amazing to witness how much the company has transformed over time.
What drives you to stay motivated in your role?
The unpredictable nature of fraud investigation keeps things fresh—each day presents new challenges. I start every morning with a sense of purpose, knowing my work helps protect customers and their trust in our platform. That sense of responsibility, combined with a strong belief in our mission, keeps me inspired.
What’s one major lesson you’ve learned recently?
The biggest takeaway this past year has been learning to stay flexible. In fraud detection, surprises are part of the job. Over time, I’ve built a mindset that embraces the unexpected, which has helped me stay composed under pressure. It’s a skill that’s helped in many areas of life, not just at work.
What do you value most about GoDaddy’s culture?
I’ve been here long enough to remember Bob Parsons’ 16 Rules—guiding principles that still resonate with me today. GoDaddy has always stood for individuality, boldness, and excellence. Whether it's our unforgettable company events or the occasional celebrity sighting (like the time I bumped into Danica Patrick!), the energy here is electric. There’s a strong sense of community and care that makes people feel proud to stick around—many of us even call ourselves “Lifers.”
What’s life like outside of work?
Outside the office, I live a very full life. My wife Amanda and I are raising two active boys who keep us constantly on the move with sports and extracurriculars—from football to martial arts. We’re coaches, fans, and proud parents. I also head our school’s Dad’s Club, DJ local events, and even dress up as The Grinch every year at a holiday breakfast. I enjoy cosplay, fishing, camping, and spending quality time outdoors. I also co-run a custom trading card company, ChampionCards.com, and produce YouTube videos with my kids. There’s always something going on—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
