To mark National Nurses Appreciation Week, the LA Kings partnered with Superfd and Melissa’s Produce to express their gratitude to frontline healthcare workers at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). On Monday, May 5, 2025, the LA Kings team—joined by their mascot, Bailey—visited CHLA to distribute healthy meals, snacks, and fresh produce to RN Residents, newly graduated nurses starting their careers at the esteemed pediatric hospital.
This gesture was a tribute to the commitment and compassion of CHLA’s RN Residents, who are at the beginning of their nursing journey and already caring for some of the hospital’s most delicate young patients. The visit served as a heartfelt acknowledgment of their vital contributions and a reminder that the broader community values and supports their dedication.
“We’re proud to partner with organizations that help us celebrate the amazing nurses at CHLA,” said Gabe Gelbard, Community Relations Manager for the LA Kings. “As a team deeply connected to Los Angeles, we understand the importance of resilience, unity, and compassion—qualities these nurses demonstrate every day. It’s a privilege to honor and uplift them.”
The initiative was made possible with the help of Superfd, known for its expertise in performance-based nutrition, and Melissa’s Produce, a top supplier of fresh fruits and vegetables. Their contributions ensured that the meals delivered were both nourishing and energizing, helping sustain the nurses through their busy shifts.
