Whirlpool Corporation marked its fourth annual “Day of Impact” by bringing together over 50 employees and local officials to enhance Morton Park in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Situated near the Benton Harbor Arts District, Morton Park was selected in partnership with the City of Benton Harbor and other community groups because of its deep historical significance.
“Benton Harbor has been home to Whirlpool Corporation for more than a century and remains the community for many of our team members,” said Jim Peters, Whirlpool’s Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. “Working alongside the city to revitalize a public space like Morton Park is a meaningful way for us to give back.”
Key upgrades to Morton Park include:

Key upgrades to Morton Park include:
- Installation of a new fountain with seating
- Addition of new sidewalks throughout the park
- Planting of flower beds and landscaping with new trees
- Updated park sign and picnic tables
- Refurbished benches
- A new flagpole with flag
“Morton Park is a vital part of Benton Harbor’s identity, and these enhancements ensure it will continue to serve as a welcoming space for generations to come,” said Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad. “This partnership highlights what can be achieved when we work together to invest in the places that define our community.”
The “Day of Impact” program began in 2021, with prior efforts focused on Union Park (2022), June Woods Park (2023), and Charles Yarbrough Park (2024).
