The report showcases advancements across the company’s three key impact pillars — People, Prosperity, and Planet — and demonstrates how these initiatives align with its broader business goals.

Reflecting on the achievements of the past year, the report emphasizes Mastercard’s long-term commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable growth, while also identifying opportunities for future progress. With transparency, accountability, and innovation at the core of its approach, Mastercard remains dedicated to creating an economy where individuals and communities prosper while safeguarding the planet.

Key highlights from Mastercard’s 2024 impact initiatives include:
Empowering individuals to reach their potential
Mastercard is building a workplace culture rooted in inclusion, community, and belonging, while enabling opportunities for people worldwide.
  • Over 90% of employees surveyed in 2024 expressed pride in working for Mastercard.
  • Employees contributed more than 135,000 volunteer hours to local communities in 2024, marking an 11% increase from 2023.
  • Through Kids4Tech™ and Girls4Tech™, Mastercard educated 309,000 students in 2024, reaching over 12 million students across 65 countries since the programs launched in 2014.
Driving prosperity worldwide
Mastercard is helping people and businesses engage in the digital economy by providing access to essential tools and resources through collaboration with partners.
  • Since 2015, Mastercard has connected 960 million people to the digital economy, moving closer to its goal of 1 billion by 2025.
  • Between 2020 and 2024, 65 million micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) were onboarded to the digital economy, exceeding the company’s target.
  • The Mastercard Strive program has reached 19 million small businesses since 2021, surpassing its goal.
  • The Community Pass platform has registered 7 million users across Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda since 2018.
  • Over the past three years, Mastercard prevented more than $47.9 billion in fraud losses using a single AI-powered cybersecurity solution.
Protecting the planet for future generations
Recognizing that economic growth depends on a healthy planet, Mastercard is advancing its efforts to achieve net-zero emissions and accelerate the shift to a low-carbon, regenerative economy.
  • Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions were reduced by 7% year-over-year, despite a 12% increase in net revenue, illustrating the company’s ability to decouple growth from emissions.
  • 71% of the company’s highest-emission suppliers have committed to science-based targets for emissions reduction and report through CDP, public disclosures, or supplier agreements.
  • For the eighth year in a row, Mastercard achieved 100% renewable energy sourcing for its operations.
  • Since 2020, 26 million trees have been funded for restoration through the Priceless Planet Coalition, advancing toward the 100 million tree goal.
