The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) has launched an upgraded greenhouse gas (GHG) tracking and reporting system called the RBA Emissions Management Tool (EMT).
The EMT gathers data such as energy usage and fuel consumption to calculate greenhouse gas emissions. It also records information on reporting and verification status, along with emissions reduction goals and actions taken by participating organizations. The tool applies methodologies aligned with the GHG Protocol and relies on emission factors and coefficients from credible, established sources.
The platform features a standardized GHG reporting questionnaire that enables suppliers to complete their emissions inventory once and share the information with multiple RBA member companies through integration with RBA-Online, the alliance’s data management platform. This integration helps prevent repeated data requests and reduces the reporting workload for suppliers.
Holly Evans, Senior Vice President of Environmental Policy and Legal Affairs at RBA, stated that the EMT strengthens the alliance’s existing environmental resources, which include environmental assessments, chemical management tools, circular materials evaluations, waste tracking systems, and supplier training programs designed to enhance environmental performance across member supply chains.
The updated EMT introduces several enhancements, including more adaptable reporting timelines, the option to allocate supplier emissions data by customer, and improved data export features to support easier data sharing and portability.
Organizations can find additional information about the EMT on the RBA website or contact rei@responsiblebusiness.org for inquiries. The tool is provided free to RBA members and their suppliers and can be accessed via RBA-Online.
