Lenovo Unveils New AI-Powered Chromebooks for Education at FETC 2026

01/30/2026

Lenovo used the Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC) 2026 to unveil several new Chromebook models designed to enhance digital teaching and learning. The company will also showcase these and other education-focused technologies at Bett UK 2026 from January 21–23, where it plans to collaborate with educators and innovators on topics such as AI skills, online safety, durable hardware, and easier device repair.

As a major global supplier of computing and smart technology for the education sector, Lenovo aims to support schools and universities with protected, AI-driven tools that tailor learning experiences, safeguard information, and equip students for future careers. Its approach spans everything from classroom devices to cloud-based infrastructure.

Chris Babson, General Manager of Lenovo’s Commercial Education Portfolio, emphasized that tomorrow’s workforce depends on access to intelligent technology today. He noted that Lenovo’s ecosystem—from Chromebooks to broader end-to-end solutions—puts practical, powerful tools into the hands of both teachers and learners to improve educational outcomes.

New Lenovo Chromebooks for Education
Lenovo’s latest ChromeOS devices are built to bring modern capabilities such as AI-powered features, strong security, and simplified fleet management into schools. The new education lineup includes:
  • Lenovo Chromebook 100e Gen 5
  • Lenovo Chromebook 500e 2-in-1 Gen 5
  • Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14
  • Lenovo Chromebook Plus 15
According to Benny Zhang, who leads Lenovo’s Chromebook business, ChromeOS devices help schools maintain secure, future-ready fleets that are easy to roll out and manage, while giving staff and students access to advanced apps and AI tools for a smoother experience.

Lenovo Chromebook 100e Gen 5
Designed for K-12 environments, the Chromebook 100e Gen 5 is lightweight yet tough enough for everyday student use. It can be configured with either an Intel Processor N150 or a MediaTek Kompanio 540 and offers 11.6-inch or 12.2-inch displays, with touch and non-touch options.

The chassis has been reinforced to handle drops, bumps, and spills, and key parts can be replaced easily thanks to customer-replaceable components. It also undergoes military-grade durability testing. A larger 50Wh battery, Wi-Fi 7, and optional 4G LTE keep students connected and productive throughout the day. Dual USB-C ports and additional connectivity options make it easy to attach accessories for different learning activities.

Lenovo Chromebook 500e 2-in-1 Gen 5
This convertible model focuses on flexibility and value. Powered by Intel N150/N250 or MediaTek Kompanio 540 processors, it can switch between laptop and tablet modes for varied classroom tasks. Like the 100e, it is built to withstand accidental knocks and spills and meets MIL-SPEC durability standards.

Schools can choose between 11.6-inch and 12.2-inch touchscreens within the same compact design. A new USI 2.0 stylus, which docks securely into the device, enables natural handwriting and drawing. Enhancements such as faster Wi-Fi 7, dual USB-C ports, improved repairability, and a 50Wh battery delivering up to 16 hours of use make it well suited to mobile, all-day learning.

Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14
Aimed more at teachers and school staff, the Chromebook Plus 14 uses an Intel Core 3 N355 processor to deliver higher performance for multitasking and administration. Weighing around 1.4 kg, it combines portability with long battery life.

Its 16:10 display with an over-87% screen-to-body ratio provides more usable screen space, while Waves-tuned speakers improve audio clarity. A 5MP webcam with a physical privacy shutter supports secure video calls. Built-in Google AI features assist with tasks like drafting content, editing images, and organising research. The design also emphasises sustainability and easy part replacement.

Lenovo Chromebook Plus 15
Expanding the range further, the Chromebook Plus 15 features an Intel Core i3 processor and integrated Google AI tools. Offered for both consumers and education customers, it includes a 15-inch 2K IPS display, Waves-enhanced audio, and up to 11 hours of battery life. Productivity features such as a full numeric keypad, larger touchpad, fingerprint reader, and a 5MP camera with privacy shutter make it suitable for more demanding workloads.

Chrome Portal and Lenovo Device Orchestration
Lenovo is also extending its Device Orchestration (LDO) platform to support ChromeOS. This intelligent management system allows IT teams to oversee and optimise entire device fleets, helping predict issues before they disrupt classes.

By linking LDO with the Google Admin Console, schools can enrol all their Chromebooks and view them in a single dashboard. Administrators gain access to detailed telemetry—such as last check-in time, battery condition, and recent user activity—to analyse performance, strengthen security, and reduce downtime across the fleet.

Showcasing at FETC and Bett
Educators and IT leaders can explore these new Chromebooks and management tools in person at Lenovo’s stands at FETC 2026 and Bett 2026, where the company will demonstrate how its AI-enabled, durable and repairable devices aim to support the next generation of digital learning.
