Benevity Appoints Soraya Alexander as New CEO, Succeeding Christopher Maloof
Benevity, Inc., a global leader in social impact software, has announced that Soraya Alexander will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on November 1, 2025. Alexander previously served as President of GoFundMe Pro and Chief Operating Officer at GoFundMe, which was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential Companies worldwide. She succeeds Christopher Maloof, who will transition from his current position as CEO to become Chair of Benevity’s Board of Directors.

“Chris has successfully guided Benevity through a pivotal stage of growth and transformation, setting a strong foundation for future innovation,” said Benevity Founder and Board Member Bryan de Lottinville. “Soraya brings extensive experience in the social impact sector, coupled with a people-first leadership style and a proven ability to build communities. Her expertise will be instrumental in helping us scale our mission to better support clients and nonprofit partners at a critical moment for global impact.”

During her time at GoFundMe, Alexander played a key role in expanding the platform into a worldwide movement that enabled more than 190 million people to raise over $40 billion for individuals and nonprofit organizations. Her career also includes leadership positions at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Time Inc., and PBS, where she led initiatives in digital innovation, customer engagement, and community growth.

“The most resilient organizations are those driven by purpose, and Benevity is at the forefront of bringing purpose to life,” said Alexander. “I’m excited to join this incredible team as we embark on the next chapter—empowering individuals and companies to amplify their impact.”

Alexander’s appointment comes as Benevity accelerates innovation and transformation. In May, the company launched the Enterprise Impact Platform, integrating giving, volunteering, grants, and employee engagement into one system. Shortly after, Benevity named the industry’s first Chief AI Officer to reimagine how artificial intelligence can drive social good at scale. The company also expanded its Global Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) services to streamline international giving, enable faster nonprofit disbursements, and simplify tax-efficient contributions for corporate donors.

“Benevity has been a trailblazer in corporate impact technology, with a strong reputation for client service and purpose-driven innovation,” Alexander added. “With a passionate team and a powerful platform, we are well-positioned to shape the future of purpose-driven work.”

Maloof praised the leadership transition, saying, “I’m delighted to welcome Soraya as CEO. She has a deep connection to our mission and a unique blend of experience in technology and the nonprofit space. Her vision and market insight make her the right leader to guide Benevity into its next era of enterprise impact.”

Beyond her corporate leadership, Alexander serves on the boards of Symetra Financial, Room to Read (North America), and Amplified Impact Partners. She earned her BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
