Local Food Drives Climate Action and Equity in Georgia
In Georgia, access to fresh, locally grown food goes beyond basic nutrition—it serves as a catalyst for promoting climate action and social equity. This vision is at the heart of the work done by Community Farmers Markets (CFM), a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta. CFM is actively implementing several of the 20 climate solutions outlined by Drawdown Georgia, particularly in underserved communities. During a recent episode of the Georgia Climate Digest video series, hosted by seasoned climate justice advocate Eriqah Vincent, CFM’s Director of Operations & Vendor Support Casey Hood and Food Systems Innovation Manager Raevin Hawkins discussed how their initiatives are cutting carbon emissions, addressing food insecurity, and fostering stronger community connections.
