Whirlpool Community Charity Golf Event Raises $3M for Berrien County Youth

09/27/2023

The Whirlpool Community Charity Golf Event, which took place on the 6th and 7th of August, successfully collected $3 million in funds for the youth of Berrien County. The event saw participation from 864 individuals who played golf across six different courses located within and around Berrien County. Besides golf, the event also featured a Fireside Chat with Hall of Famers Hale Irwin from PGA and Jerome Bettis from NFL, along with a silent auction and a live auction.

Over the course of its twenty-year history, the event has managed to raise over $30 million. This money has been used to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Southwest Michigan, First Tee of Benton Harbor, and the local public school foundations of Benton Harbor, Lakeshore and St. Joseph. These organizations collectively assist nearly 10,000 young individuals each year. The funds raised in the 2023 event, amounting to $3 million, were shared among these organizations.

“We are grateful to the many volunteers, participants and generous sponsors who helped us raise these dollars to support youth in our community,” said Pam Klyn, executive vice president of corporate relations and sustainability for Whirlpool Corporation.

“The programs enhanced with this funding make an incredible impact on the young people in Southwest Michigan.”
