Wesco Joins DOD’s SkillBridge Program: Opportunities for Veterans in Supply Chain and Operations

Wesco, a prominent player in the B2B distribution, logistics services, and supply chain solutions sector, has become a part of the SkillBridge program run by the Department of Defense (DOD). The DOD’s SkillBridge initiative offers service members the chance to acquire crucial civilian work skills through targeted industry training, apprenticeships, or internships in the final 180 days of their service. It bridges the gap between transitioning service members and industry partners by providing real-world job experiences.

David Schulz, Wesco’s Chief Financial Officer, stated that Wesco is dedicated to ensuring that veterans can achieve great success within the company. Wesco supports its veteran employees through the Veteran’s Opportunity Liaison Team (VOLT), a Business Resource Group that focuses on developing and implementing programs specifically designed for veterans and their families. Schulz, a veteran himself, expressed his pride in serving as the group’s executive sponsor over the past year and the accomplishments they’ve made, including the introduction of a scholarship for veteran families in 2023.
